San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Charles Omenihu was arrested Monday in a domestic violence incident. The San Jose Police Department said an adult female reported that her boyfriend, Omenihu, pushed her to the ground during an argument that occurred at approximately 4:39 p.m. local time. A release from the police department said: “Officers did not observe any visible physical injuries to the survivor … she did however have a complaint of pain to her arm.”

Police said officers contacted Omenihu at the scene, where he cooperated with the investigation and provided a statement. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for misdemeanor domestic violence, posted bail and was released. The defensive lineman could face possible charges as the case is reviewed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

Under the NFL’s personal conduct policy, a domestic violence situation could result in a six-game suspension for a first offense. The 49ers said in a statement: “We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information.”

Omenihu played 15 snaps in the 49ers’ divisional round victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Omenihu had 4.5 sacks during the regular season. San Francisco will play in the NFC championship game on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
