Paramount has released the first trailer for “Mean Girls,” adapted from the 2018 Tony-nominated musical based on the 2004 comedy of the same name. Reneé Rapp stars as the infamous Regina George, reprising her role on Broadway. Also joining the cast are Auli’i Cravalho, Angourie Rice, Christopher Briney, and Jaquel Spivey. Tina Fey, who wrote both the 2004 movie and the stage musical, returns as screenwriter and producer for this rendition.

Rice portrays Cady Heron, the new girl at school who is taken in by Janis and Damian (Cravalho and Spivey, respectively).  After Janis and Damian instruct Cady to infiltrate the school’s queen bees, known as the Plastics, Cady starts to fall for Regina’s boyfriend Aaron Samuels (played by Briney).

“Mean Girls” will premiere in theaters on Jan. 12, 2024. Watch the trailer for ‘Mean Girls’ – here.
