Sources told ESPN that the Texas Longhorns are hiring Xavier’s Sean Miller as their new basketball coach. The move comes shortly after Texas fired coach Rodney Terry, who led the Longhorns to a 62-37 record over the last three seasons.  Terry’s firing came on the heels of Xavier’s 86–80 win over the Longhorns in the First Four.  Xavier went on to lose 86–73 to No. 6 Illinois in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament Friday in Milwaukee.

Miller, who was in his second stint coaching the Musketeers, is a veteran head coach who has led teams to 13 NCAA tournament appearances in his career, including in two of the past three seasons at Xavier. Miller went 120-47 during his initial stint with the Musketeers from 2004-05 through 2008-09; and he led the Arizona Wildcats to a 302-109 record from 2009-10 through 2020-21.  Miller, 56, led the Musketeers to a 22-12 record this season and has won 487 games and brings a winning percentage of more than 71% (per CBS Sports.)
