The Cleveland Indians announced on Monday that catcher Wilson Ramos will be out for the remainder of the 2021 season because of a significant left knee injury. The team confirmed that Ramos suffered a torn ACL and sprained MCL in Sunday’s game against the Boston Red Sox, and the veteran catcher will require season-ending surgery to repair the knee injury

The 34-year-old Ramos played in 44 games this season — nine with the Indians and 35 with the Detroit Tigers. He had a .226 batting average with two home runs and seven RBIs for the Indians, who have been playing without Gold Glove catcher Roberto Perez for most of the season.
