Detroit Pistons forward Christian Wood has tested positive for coronavirus. Wood is the third NBA player to test positive for the virus, joining the Utah Jazz’s Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell. Wood played against the Jazz on March 7.
The Pistons confirmed that a player – they did not name Wood – tested positive Saturday and has been in self-isolation. “A player on the Detroit Pistons, who is under the care of team medical staff and in self-isolation since Wednesday night, was tested for COVID-19,“ the team said. “A preliminary positive result came back on March 14. The health and safety of our players, our organization, those throughout our league, and all those potentially impacted by this situation is paramount.“
It’s been reported that Wood has no symptoms currently, and is doing well.
The NBA suspended its season after Gobert’s positive test on Wednesday. Other sporting events, such as NCAA March Madness have been canceled.
